Bournemouth University has eight on-campus residences, offering catered and self-catered lodging to students. These residences are also open to tourists in between school terms. In addition, Bournemouth has several hotels conveniently close to the campus and other city facilities such as train stations and shopping malls.

Some of the university-owned residences are open during the summer to new students getting to know the city and families helping their children get settled for their first year. Summer lets are on a weekly basis, which are reasonably priced. For those arriving later in the season, there are a number of hotels to choose from, all less than 3 km / 2 miles from the campus.
The Norfolk Royale Classic Hotel is located at the city centre, 2.7 km / 1.5 miles from the university. The hotel is perfect for families with small children, with such facilities as cots and cribs, high chairs, baby listening services, and children's menus. For a more leisurely mood, try the Kingswood Hotel on Durley Road. Located by the coast yet conveniently close to the city centre, Kingswood has only 18 rooms, assuring all guests of excellent and highly customised service.

During the term, students can stay at one of the residences on campus. There are eight university-owned residences and university-managed houses, allocated proportionally to students from all the schools. Residences may be catered or self-catered. Catered residences serve full meals on all days of the week, charged with the rent, while self-catered residences provide a large communal kitchen for preparing meals.
